Collection: Callus Removal

Callus work is the part of a pedicure clients feel the difference on, and the part most regulated by state boards.

Know your state's rules

Credo blades and similar cutting tools are prohibited in many states, including California. Files, sanding disks and rasps are permitted. Check your board's current rules before buying anything that cuts rather than abrades — this is a common inspection finding.

Files and disks

A foot file with replaceable surfaces gives consistent results and lets you swap the abrasive instead of the tool. Sanding disks on a mandrel attach to your e-file and work faster on heavy callus, with more control than a hand file.

Hygiene

Abrasive surfaces are single-client items. They trap skin and cannot be properly sterilized. Replace between clients — the cost per pedicure is a few cents and it's the thing an inspector will ask about.
